Hey guys, I’m new to this, so I hope this is going to go well. My last drink was on 6-27-21. I was told a year ago that I had a fatty liver and spots and was told to lose weight and stop drinking. I lost 50 pounds with diet and walking and was slowing down drinking, but I lost my mom to Covid 7 months ago and I started drinking a little. It wasn’t a lot, but a few drinks every so often to get by. I started missing my mom worse around Mother’s Day and my drinking got worse. I had 3 nights were I drank a lot, including Father’s Day where I was a drunk on Mulburry Street in NYC. The worse thing is that I couldn’t process the booze. I get it in my stomach for days and my really think that my liver was feeling it bad. I decided to stop that day as I feel like my health will get worse. I’ve been to some parties and have avoided the booze, but am wondering how to stop for good, especially when it comes to being around my friends who are heavy drinkers. I have a wife anc daughter to live for and want to never drink again, but do you all have words to help? I’m scared Of booze.

Maybe it might help if you joined some kind of addictions support group, if you haven't already tried one. There are a lot of different one's out there, and if you try them out, maybe one of them might be helpful during times when you are tempted to drink again. I think peer support can be valueable in situations like this.

Another idea might be to find a book or workbook that relates to your issues, and then read a chapter of it whenever you feel tempted.

I really wish you the best of luck!
