It’s okay, I know how relapsing suck especially when it’s after a very long time without relapsing. I’m sure you’ll be able to win this time, you’re strong you can do this !

Don’t be so hard on yourself, it really happen to a lot of us to mess up but the fact that you want to do better is already a big step. Use all of that as a motivation, you’re an awesome person I know it and I’m sure your wife probably think the same ! For the drinking problem I can’t imagine how hard it can be to beat this addiction since I never really drink, but the fact that you were sober for a very long time before I know you can do it again! It’s going to be hard but I know you can do it and you’ll see positive change :) But really, already so proud of you !

Just checking in the few days ago I got the urge to drink because me and my was going through it from my episode. But I fought the urges to no drink. But I did run across my mind at the time to drink. I'm trying to break the habits from drinking the pain away so far it's working out but I'm still taking it one day at a time. It's always going to be a constant battle with alcoholism and my depression. I either write or talk or play some videogames to keep my mind busy. And I relook at our conversation each day to help me remind myself to stay focus on the path I want to be on.

It really makes me sentimental that you look at our conversation each day to help yourself. And I’m so proud of you because even tho sometime it gets hard to resist to relapse you still manage to get trough it.

To be honest something lately that I feel like helped me a lot for my addiction too is when I feel like I’m going to relapse or else I’m going outside. Just for a walk, sometime listening to music..I go for a walk of 30min sometime and it makes me forget about the desires of relapsing, because sometime when you’re at your house you can’t really escape. So if you feel like you gonna drink or relapse just go outside, for a walk, with or without music, maybe it will help you like it did to me.

Again, I’m so proud of you, never give up!

It's a reminder and I also have a post in check in that I check in day or try to but yes I come back to this post each whether I get the urge or not and it really does help. I will try the go on for a walk to see if it helps as well. By tonight I will be 8 days sober. My wife going out for drinks with her friend after work that doesn't bother me. My wife had a drink last night and the night before and that didn't bother me as well. The night before I almost grabbed her cup because I just pour some juice but I saw it wasn't juice so I turned around got my cup of juice. In that time I didn't have a urge but I told myself no that's not your cup and look for your cup of minute maid juice. It doesn't bother me that she drinks and we still have alcohol in the house I was only drinking beer until this thread where I chose to drink hard liquor. Me and hard liquor don't mix. I was doing fine with drinking my 1-3 beers all this year but I gave in to the hard liquor and depression. But I want to stay sober as long as I can. I been sober for two years and then 6 months so I know I can go without it I know it'll be challenging in the future at times since I am addicted/alcoholic I know I got this. We can talk on here and my other thread if you want too. But I will always come back and check my thread for a reminder I just hope my post doesn't get buried and I would have to scroll a lot.

Thank you for helping my threads being voted up to not get buried and thank you I am proud of my success as well. AA never really helped I would just go drink right after a meeting. Outpatient worked that was my 2 years sober. 6 months was just my personal choice to stop drinking. 7 cups does really help me because they are others that had similar stories of mine or can relate. I know it's the same in AA but to me it just wasn't enough for me. Reading people's stories help more because I can go back and look it for a reminder.

I been doing good lately. It's not getting harder but sometimes it does come across my mind. Me and my wife talked yesterday she was happy that I been sober. Her birthday coming up in a couple weeks I told her if I do ever drink again it will only be beer but I want to see how long me not drinking can go

Happy to know that it’s been good! And to be honest the fact that it cross your mind but you didn’t gave up that’s a strong move!! I feel like it gets tricky sometime and it can be hard to fight the urge but when you do fight them then you become stronger every time. Also happy to know that it’s getting better with you and your wife :) It genuinely make me smile that it’s getting better for you. I hope this thread will never age! Like, even in one year or more I wanna hear updates on you! We might be strangers but still, I’m proud of you for everything bro!!

Thank you I started my new job today and I am staying sober still. I am finally doing a job other than security it was draining my mental health which caused me to relapse last time heavy because I was depressed about my old job I wasn't really making money etc and it was boring.

Ohh what are you doing as a job now ? I can understand for the job impacting your mental health to be honest I used to feel the same way my old job was horrible and I used to be anxious most of the time about it. I feel like it’s important to do something that we enjoy as a job or that at least doesn’t make us feel bad, so that’s cool that you were able to find that!
