Im terrified of giving up drinking and having to face my insomnia again. I know this and Ive been struggling with it for a long time and it is making me feel like literal crap and affecting my ability to think for most of the day as I metabolise it really slowly. But I just took a random daytime nap and actually slept for the first time in literal years. I dont know. Seems silly but I feel hope. I actually feel so good right now after my first real hour of sleep in forever.

Insomnia is a disorder that prevents someone from achieving a restful nights sleep. This could mean that they arent reaching a deep level of sleep, are waking several times through the night, or cant fall asleep to begin with. In the long-term, however, it can be detrimental to ones mood, energy level, physical and mental health, work performance, and quality of life. Without deep sleep, our mind and body are unable to do whats necessary to prepare for the next day. Treating a co-occurring disorder without treating someones alcohol dependency, and vice versa, can mean setting up a possible relapse before treatment has truly begun.
