hey guys! i'm 16 tryna go into recovery, got my first actual meeting tonight. i know 16 is pretty early to start doing all this but substances have been messing up my life for years now, and i don't wanna keep going in this cycle anymore. it's taken me a long time to realise i am powerless toward drugs and alc, but hey, i've gotten there now and that's the first step. i just wanted to share this post to remind y'all that no matter who you are, how bad it seems, or whatever, that you CAN do this. there is a better life out there for us all, we just have to put in the work to get there. if anyone's got any tips or anything to share they'll be very appreciated, much love guys 💙 we're in this together.

First of all, I'm really proud of you for acknowledging your addiction- not many people can do that! It's very brave of you to move forward from it, and to find a life beyond it, and for that, I completely acknowledge your efforts & congratulate you in leaving it behind.

The only tip I really have is for you to do the best you can. Start with easier forms of discipline, and the better you do in some areas of your life, you will start to turn your mind towards what else you can do to improve. Cannabis in most cases is a form of escapism for many, and I assume it may be the same for you. In that case, you will drop it when you see from experience that there are other forms of practice in life that can be a better, long-term solution, to the problems you may be avoiding. There are tons of practices you could do in place of this, and to start, I'd recommend mindfulness practices. It's very difficult at first, but it's never boring- trust me! I know from firsthand experience how much it's changed & improved my life quality overall.

I wish you the very best, calmCucumber7857.
