Hi everyone! I'm new here...I'm a little nervous but I decided it was time to share.

I was 1 week clean and today was a very hard day and I failed!! Couldn't hold my self and I used again.

Please help me, anything, any words, any tips... I don't know ...

Thank you for reading my message.

You didn't let yourself down! Relapse is a normal part of recovery, if it wasn't, then there would be no such thing as addiction! Quitting addictive substances is very hard and you will have setbacks.

My advice is first to forgive yourself. Piling on guilt and saying you screwed up only increases stress and what helps you escape stress? Your drug of choice! So it's important to limit the sources of stress that are within your control.

Second, don't use this relapse as an excuse to start using again. You made it X number of days clean, and you still get credit for quitting all that time, you are still healthier from being sober that time than if you had used instead.

Don't quit forever, that's far to much pressure to have on your shoulders. Quit for today. That's all you need to do.
