Adderall

I look forward to studying because I get to take Adderall (I have a prescription). But then afterwards I feel depressed and weak and stop for a day or two, then the cycle repeats. I feel a string craving for it when I'm not on it.

Thas been going on for months, I don't know if I'm addicted or what, since I have a prescription- but it's still a powerful drug that f**s me up. I have heard horrible stories about it being compared to meth, since it's similar and I don't want that to happen to me. But I think I really do need it to study.

@lovelyWhisper66 Thanks for the support. I don't think I'm addicted to it after all. I think I just get into a hypomanic euphoria when on it and then depressed when off it, which is essentially induced manic depression (aka bipolar). Since this only happens when I take Adderall, I don't think I have bipolar, but it's definitely not a pleasant experience going through the drug cycle. I literally feel like a meth addict when on it because of these psychostimulating characteristics and other side effects associated with meth addicts (poor diet, poor sleep, etc) The only reason I take it is to pass math, economics exams. For this, it helps. Hopefully I won't need it after I graduate.

Hello,

I am currently taking Ambien to sleep and I think I am addicted to it. Is there any way I can possibly get off them without going through severe withdrawals. I am also having more panic attacks with my benzodiazepines. I feel my heart rate rising a lot after a while. Does anyone else experience this?

@AkoChan2

hello there! I am not an expert but someone who have used benzodiazepine for long period of time. It took ms over a year with multiple relapse to understand what was going on with my body. I did not do this alone. I had alot of medical support by doctors who were trained to help me come off benzodiazepine. If you plan on coming off or lowering your dosage, I highly suggest you do it with strong support foundation. With any prescribed medication, withdrawls can be quite ugly and sometimes deadly. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to. Good luck

@NeWay

I have taken adderall in the past for the same reason you've mentioned. It was something I turned into when I needed to sit for long period of time to study or finish an essay. It was also prescribed to me but it doesn't make it right. After I became someone who worked exclusively with clients with drug addiciton, I realized too many people were prescribed with such medication without valid assesement. I hate to say this but any doctor who wants to prescribe such medicine needs their license taken away. I see way too many people going down the pipe with prescription drugs. My personal opinion aside, I am glad you're realizing it's something you have the means to stop once you are finished with school. Feel free to update us and good luck.

@Jackie Yeah I don't even know if I should take it for studying because of the side effects. I don't know of I'll pass without it though. Conflicted. Thanks

Hey @NeWay

hope I can be of some support here

I have been off and on very strong prescription medication for the last 6 years and I can tell you what has worked for me is I have always been 100% open and honest with my doctor about the feelings Im getting how its making me feel if I was feeling I felt like I was becoming dependent on it. Never hid anything from him. This worked very well because we where able to make adjustments as soon as needed and really reduced the effects of taking this medication.

Thats my personal experience. Hope I could be of help. If you need anymore support feel free to reach out.

Much love.

Peter
