Addicted or Attention-Seeking?
So, I've done a lot of things I shouldn't have. I've stolen some of my parents liquer, I take more Ibprofuen than I should, I've taken Nyquil even when I'm not sick, and I've been cutting on and off for over a year. I don't know if I'm actually addicted to these things, but I feel like I'm slipping and becoming more and more focused and dependent on these things. I don't know how to stop, and whether or not I'm actually addicted.
@Brainchild128 Welcome to the platform Brainchild! I hope you are enjoying 7Cups so far. It is quite hard to determine if one is addicted or not. How are you doing lately?
We are here for you. If you ever need to chat with someone, the listeners are always here. Best wishes! *hugs if you are okay with it* :)
@Brainchild128 hey hey just spotted your post and thought maybe tell you I can relate as a self harmer also although I've been almost clean stopped(ish) for about 8 years aside a few slip ups here and there. I wouldn't overthink to much about finding a label to catagorise what you do it could be either or,..... or both 🤷🏼♀️. Doesn't matter really what matters is focusing on fighting the impulse to do it. Trust me the scarring is not worth it down the line it never fades. Soul crushing when your kid asks what it is also. The more you think a thought the more active it is in your brain to do it again. I found an eastic band on my wrist worked. Snap it hard against your skin when ever you have any impulsive thoughts. It hurts but it's also kinda nice 😂 . Sorry I may just have introduced you to a new addiction but it beats scarring your skin beauts. Hope this helps stay positive 😊. X
