Benzodiazepines addiction?
Good evening everyone. Recently I started using several types of benzodiazepines, such as bromazepam, phenazepam, diazepam etc. it's been a few months actually even if I never used them regularly. They are shortcuts to numb my pain or any sort of feeling. I've read that benzodiazepines cause addiction very quickly, beginning from the increased tolerance to the drug. I must confess my tolerance has raised and I need quite a lot more than before, but I do not experience any withdrawal, and even if I crave benzos at every minor inconvenience, I am sure I still can live without them. Sometimes weeks have passed in between and I haven't felt anything that could make me think I'm getting addicted. So here's my question: am I developing and addiction just by an increased tolerance and by substance craving? Or is it not? And if not, how so? Thank y'all

The longer you take them the more your body physically becomes dependant on it. It's only addiction if you are abusing the medication. Do not abruptly stop taking the medication at any point without talking to a professional. Yes there is a withdrawal, but that's why dr.'s taper. So it's up to you if you want them long-term or short-term. You can have the will power the not become dependant mentally but your body may become dependant physically. Keep that in mind.
@RealTree3
thank you very much! Will definitely consider that
I have been on benzos off & on since 2008! I have always been able to taper myself off but I have been trying to taper off & get off for the last 6-8 months but seem to not be able to! I am down from 2mg per day or more to 1 or a half mg per day but when I get lower than that my brain starts feeling really funny like an electrical shock & I get really dizzy, my blood pressure drops! I really want to stop, especially because I am lying to my loved ones! I am diagnosed bipolar, generalized anxiety, PTSD, & agoraphobia! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I do need to say my bf doesn't understand that medicine is needed because noone in his family has ever faced it, plus he is a retired police officer who believes addiction can be won & is the reason I am trying to stop taking medications! Please give me any honest advice!
