This is the first time that I’m admitting that I’m addicted to a drug. It’s not anything hardcore, just marijuana but it really has been the downfall for a lot of my days. I’m unproductive, and I eat like shit. I’m depressed so it helps, but my weight has been negatively impacted.. any encouraging words?

@Izzi7

In my own battle(s) with addiction, I can tell you that the first step (as you no doubt have heard) is admitting the problem. The insidious thing about addiction is that it effectively takes choice away from us. Our brains and bodies become dependent on whatever the substance is.

Even for myself, for as much distance as I've put between my past addiction, I still respect it. As in, I still live my life one day at a time--knowing that the temptation will always come again. But I am ready to meet it, everytime. :)

I am also admitting for the first time that I’m addicted to THC which I can now obtain far too easily in the form of legal vape cartridges all over my hometown. I over use them, sometimes throw them out before they are empty because I have decided to quit, and then go right back out and buy more. It feels like the act of acquiring them and the first hit is the addicting part of it all. It has caused me to waste more money and time than I really want to know and once again, today, I am throwing out my vapes so that they are picked up tomorrow morning with the trash.

Mariijuana/THC can be just as problematic as any drug, IMO and for me I need to drastically change my environment and routine so I am not triggered. Hard when I take those vapes everywhere but I am trying visualization techniques now. Trying to visualize myself using the vape and seeing myself objectively and asking myself if that is how I want to see myself calming down. I instead try to picture myself calming down with yoga, or a walk, or a book and liking the healthier vision of myself. It’s easier said than done but I don’t give up. It is all mindset for me and trying to change the thought I am having that is triggering me to vape (usually a feeling of overwhelm) into one more empowering (just pick one task to do for 5 minutes).
