Prescription Morphine withdrawal
Hiya all I have been in prescription morphine from the doctor for back pain. It’s a slow release form so doesn’t give an instant buzz but sustained over 12 hours between doses. The last two years have seen me become dependent upon the drug, not addicted (yet) but my body needs it to function. Through this dependancy I have become distant from my wife, my family and had horrendous mood swings With the help of the doctor, I have gone through withdrawal. I reduced my dose from 18th December and took my last dose on 31st December. A bit quicker than the doctor planned but it was important to me to enter 2021 without it. It’s taken until last week to be rid of the physical symptoms of withdrawal, but can anyone guide me as to when I will mentally back to who I was before morphine. I’ve stopped with the mood swings, in the main because of the Prozac the doc gave me. I haven’t lost my temper since 29th December. I’m doing well, I feel better but I am still getting frozen out by the wife as she doesn’t trust I’ve changed.... so when can I be sure the me in the mirror is me, and not a chemically affected version of me?
I suggest seeking help. Yes it may not seem like your addicted but it is clearly affecting your everyday life. I suggest maybe going somewhere to get better. If your doctor won't help go somewhere else and be honest. I hope you find your solution good luck.
Im on morphine too. Lots of it. Ive met docs and the like who say oh you have to stop. You mention pain. What happens to that? I stop mine and I stop functioning and not from withdraw. Whoever the doc writing the script for you sounds like an idiot too.
