dont want to relapse

I have tried every pill imaginable and almost every drug except smoking crack meth and heroin. I have been clean for a long time. Some days I barely think about it but lately when other coping mechanisms fail I just sink. And In the back of my mind I know I could do what I used to again. Nothing is stopping me. But I cant hurt the people around me in the same way again. then i jump to wanting to completely isolate and have no contact with anyone. Because the reason to not pop something is gone.

@22offwithmyyhead22

Thank you for sharing your experiences about sobriety and coping mechanisms. You mentioned a clear correlation. When you think about your past habits, they dampen your present moments. When you think less about your past, you feel better. It sounds like you have the answer already. It is a matter of which state of mind you want.

Metaphorically, when you buy your ticket on the thought train of the past, that is where you go. However, once you buy a ticket to the train of thought that leads towards the present moment, you naturally arrive at higher levels of well-being.

I hope you find this reply helpful in your life journey offwithmy! 😊
