What makes you feel like 'you?'

Hey all,

So there are times where I've wondered what makes me feel like 'me' (hence the topic title).

And I think for me, the closest thing I have to an answer is when I approach and engage with everyday being true to myself and others.

This can come in the shape or form as the sum of my interactions and conversations as well as as being engaged in some of my favorite activities. Moreover though, there's just this *feeling* that I get (in conversation or time spent with myself) when I just intuitively know that I am being 'me'.

Hopefully this makes sense, but I would say some of the more peaceful moments in my life have come from these times where I truly feel at home with myself.

The most difficult thing to relate to anyone is that the "me" I knew, all the parts of me I once valued and nourished, are now dead. They died without leaving a trace, almost as if they had never lived at all.

@sereneSunset26, What makes me feel like me is my personality. Without my personality, I wouldn’t be who I am. In the past, I didn’t believe that my personality was what made me because I was not confident in myself. Now, I know my personality is what makes me me because I would not feel like me without it. When I had less confidence in my personality, I did not feel like myself at all, and that’s how I knew that my personality made me feel like myself. Thank you for such an excellent discussion topic ❤️.

Hey Desmynn!

Thank you for your response! It did get me curious though, what are the particulars and specific things *about* your personality that make you feel like yourself? Because as you said, it most definitely is our personality that makes us feel like ourselves. :)

What an interesting question. Really made me reflect deeply. I would say the sum of everything unique I'm interested in. For example, I went through the trouble of drilling into the studs to hang a hammock in my room. I play ragtime music on piano. I have 2 tarantulas. People always say I'm one of the most unique people they've ever met and there's no one they know like me. I guess that could be a compliment or not haha

@JayTee95

I have to say, I definitely envy your musical talent!!

And for what it's worth, I have also been called unique and an original. Like yourself, I assume they're compliments, but who really knows. 😂
