Healthy Start is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of pregnant women, infants, and young children in Sarasota, FL. Supported by the Florida Department of Health and the generosity of local donors, our mission focuses on providing essential services and resources to ensure mothers and their babies receive the care they deserve. We offer free access to trained Care Coordinators who connect families with valuable information, local resources, and support services. Our comprehensive assistance includes education on baby care, breastfeeding, and childbirth, as well as help managing high stress, achieving healthy pregnancy weight, and addressing postpartum depression. We also provide parenting classes, grief counseling, in-home breastfeeding support, and health check-ups for newborns. The Healthy Start program begins with a confidential questionnaire available to every pregnant woman at her first prenatal visit, helping us identify and assist those at risk. For infants, a follow-up survey is offered at birth to ensure every baby gets a healthy start, with services available as needed to support optimal growth and development.
