The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Augusta, GA, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides an immersive six-month residential experience at Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows receive comprehensive education in organic food systems. Participants engage in hands-on learning that includes growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing innovative health education initiatives, maintaining school and community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy. The Fellowship removes financial barriers by eliminating tuition, ensuring accessibility for all. After the residential phase, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their training and enhance community food access through farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs.
