Over a six-month immersive experience at Allegheny Farm, Fellows engage in organic food system education, learning to cultivate diversified crops, implement innovative health care education, maintain community and school gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational initiatives. With a strong commitment to enhancing community resilience, Fellows also support farmers markets and develop distribution channels for healthy food access. After the fellowship, participants undertake a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to apply their skills and knowledge. Applications are open until March each year, with the program running from May to October, making a significant impact on local food systems and communities.
