About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hinesville, GA empowers aspiring leaders to advocate for a just and sustainable food system through hands-on training and community engagement. Supported by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program focuses on organic food system education, enabling Fellows to cultivate and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm and implement innovative health care educational sessions. Participants gain experience maintaining school and community gardens, promoting food and ecological literacy, and bolstering local farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. Over a six-month immersive experience at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a year of community action, selected Fellows collaborate with regional non-profit organizations, building a foundation for increased access to healthy foods in their communities. With no tuition fees, the Fellowship fosters inclusivity and encourages applicants to engage with their local food systems, applying by March each year for a program that typically runs from May to October.
