About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Milledgeville, GA, empowers individuals to become advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides comprehensive training and practical experience in sustainable agriculture and community engagement. Through hands-on education, Fellows learn to cultivate and distribute diverse organic crops, implement innovative healthcare educational sessions, and develop school and community gardens. The Fellowship encourages collaboration with local partners to improve food access and support farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. Over six months of experiential learning at AMI's farm campus, followed by a Community Action Year with regional non-profits, Fellows gain the skills needed to mentor future leaders in food and ecological literacy. Applications are accepted until March of each year for an enriching experience that runs from May to October.
