About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
Located in Savannah, GA, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become passionate advocates for a just food system. Our program focuses on social, environmental, and economic sustainability while ensuring that tuition-free access promotes inclusivity in education. Fellows engage in hands-on learning at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they immerse themselves in organic farming practices and educational initiatives. Participants work collaboratively on projects such as growing diversified crops, maintaining community gardens, and teaching food and ecological literacy in schools. They also support local farmers markets and develop healthier food distribution channels, all while mentoring the next generation of leaders. This transformative six-month experience culminates in a Community Action Year, where Fellows apply their skills in partnership with regional non-profit organizations, making a tangible impact within Savannah and beyond. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship running from May to October each year.
