The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Thomaston, GA, is dedicated to empowering the next generation of food system advocates and educators. This unique program sponsors, trains, and supports Fellows who commit to promoting a food system that is fair, sustainable, and economically viable. Through hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm, participants engage in organic food system education, grow and market diverse crops, and lead educational initiatives in health care and schools, all aimed at fostering ecological and food literacy. Our Fellows also contribute to community gardens, support local farmers markets, and create strategies to enhance access to nutritious foods. With no tuition requirements to ensure greater accessibility, the Fellowship offers a transformative six-month immersive experience followed by a Community Action Year in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, making a significant impact on food access and sustainable practices in the community.
