The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in Independence, KS, is committed to alleviating hunger by providing free USDA commodity foods to low-income households across the state. We organize five to six food shipments annually to our partnering organizations, ensuring that essential nutritional needs are met through a diverse selection of items such as canned vegetables, fruits, juice, meat, cereals, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta. Each delivery offers a minimum of four and a maximum of ten food items per household, making it easier for families to access nutritious options. To benefit from our food assistance program, clients are encouraged to apply through their home county, allowing us to serve as many individuals in need as possible.
