The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Spring Hill, KS, is dedicated to empowering individuals as advocates and educators for a food system that is just and sustainable. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship provides comprehensive training in organic food systems without tuition fees, promoting accessibility for all applicants. Through immersive six-month experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, fellows gain hands-on experience in growing and distributing diversified crops, maintaining community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational programs. They also support farmers markets and develop direct-to-consumer initiatives to ensure healthy food access. Following their training, fellows engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to implement their knowledge and support community food systems. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with fellowship activities typically running from May to October.
