The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Independence, LA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Our program provides a hands-on, immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows engage in organic food system education and collaborate with local partners to cultivate a thriving community. Through initiatives such as growing diversified crops on market-style farms, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools, our Fellows empower themselves and others to advocate for healthier, more accessible food options. We proudly offer this fellowship with no tuition fees, ensuring that financial barriers do not limit access to this transformative experience. Participants enjoy a six-month residency followed by a Community Action Year, where they apply their knowledge in partnership with regional non-profits. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
