About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Keithville, LA, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers comprehensive organic food system education, allowing selected Fellows to immerse themselves in a six-month experiential learning experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA. During this time, they gain hands-on experience in growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing educational health sessions, maintaining community and school gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into local curricula. Our Fellows also support farmers' markets, develop channels for accessing healthy foods, and engage in vital community food coalition activities. After completing their fellowship, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their training and make a real impact. We maintain a commitment to accessibility by not charging tuition, ensuring anyone passionate about transforming our food systems can join us. Applications are accepted until March each year for experiences running from May to October.
