The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Lacombe, LA, is dedicated to nurturing and empowering individuals who are passionate about creating a food system that prioritizes social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic viability. By offering a tuition-free education at the Allegheny Farm, we ensure that our fellowship is accessible to all aspiring advocates and teachers in the field of sustainable agriculture. Our program features comprehensive training in organic food systems, enabling Fellows to engage in hands-on activities such as cultivating diverse crops, conducting educational workshops related to health, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food literacy within schools. Additionally, our Fellows play a crucial role in strengthening local food systems through farmers markets, direct-to-consumer initiatives, and collaborative efforts with community food coalitions. Following an immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants embark on a Community Action Year to apply their knowledge in partnership with regional non-profits, driving impactful change in their communities. Applications for the fellowship should be submitted by March each year, with the program running from May to October.
