The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lafayette, LA, cultivates a new generation of advocates and educators devoted to creating a food system that champions social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic viability. Through a transformative program, Fellows engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, immersing themselves in organic food system education while gaining practical experience on a market-style farm. This fellowship offers vital opportunities to grow and distribute diverse crops, facilitate innovative healthcare education, enhance school and community gardens, and teach food and ecological literacy. By supporting farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, our Fellows contribute to building stronger distribution channels for healthy food access and empower local food coalitions. With no tuition fees, the program ensures accessibility for all aspiring change-makers. The Fellowship experience spans six months of intensive, experiential learning, followed by a Community Action Year, where selected Fellows partner with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and foster sustainable agricultural practices.
