About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lake Charles, LA, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through this enriching program, we empower fellows with the training necessary to promote socially, environmentally, and economically responsible practices within food systems. Our fellowship is tuition-free, aiming to enhance accessibility for all candidates. During their six-month residency at our farm, fellows receive hands-on education in organic farming techniques and community engagement. Participants will gain experience in diverse areas, including market-style farming, integrating food education into local schools, and supporting sustainable community food initiatives. After their residency, fellows enter a Community Action Year to apply their knowledge in partnership with local non-profits, facilitating access to healthy food and advocating for food justice. Applications are accepted until March, with fellowship activities typically occurring from May to October each year.
