The Carpenter Shed provides transitional living support for young men ages 16-20 who are working through mental health and substance use disorders. Located on 20 acres alongside Cheniere Lake in Monroe, Louisiana, this structured program takes a community-based approach to helping residents discover their purpose while addressing their individual traumas and experiences. The program follows a comprehensive four-phase process. Initially, residents focus on resetting negative behaviors and thought patterns. The second phase centers on rebuilding and goal-setting, followed by a third phase emphasizing accountability and self-redefinition. In the final phase, young men embrace their independence and renewal. This approach works across various diagnoses by targeting underlying behavioral patterns rather than specific conditions. The Carpenter Shed addresses all aspects of wellness—mental, physical, social, spiritual, educational, familial, and vocational—creating a holistic support system. The cozy facility features a large lounge for community gatherings, private areas for one-on-one coaching, and a fully-equipped kitchen where residents learn meal planning and preparation. On-site activities include fishing, cycling, hiking, and pet therapy. The program maintains accreditation from both the Better Business Bureau and the Joint Commission, and works with most major insurance providers.
