About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Oakdale, LA nurtures the next generation of advocates and educators committed to fostering a just and sustainable food system. This program offers a hands-on, experiential learning environment where selected Fellows immerse themselves in organic food systems education and engage with community partners to grow and distribute diversified crops on market-style farms, maintain school and community gardens, and enhance food and ecological literacy. With no tuition costs, we prioritize accessibility, empowering our Fellows to lead educational sessions, support direct-to-consumer programs, and contribute to local farmers markets. Over six months at our Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows gain the skills needed to implement innovative health care sessions and develop distribution channels that improve access to healthy foods. After their training, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their knowledge and make a lasting impact on food equity. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship running from May to October.
