About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Shreveport, LA, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates and educators for a fair and sustainable food system. Through comprehensive training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, our program emphasizes social, environmental, and economic justice in food production. We prioritize accessibility by offering this transformative experience tuition-free, allowing participants to engage in vital learning opportunities such as organic farming, community gardening, and educational initiatives that foster food and ecological literacy. Fellows are empowered to collaborate with local partners to grow and distribute a variety of crops, implement innovative health care education, and support direct-to-consumer food programs. After six months of hands-on training, our Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Interested applicants can apply by March for the experience spanning May to October of the same year.
