About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Winnsboro, LA is dedicated to empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through a comprehensive, tuition-free training program, we provide Fellows with hands-on education in organic food systems while promoting community engagement. Participants collaborate with local partners to cultivate diverse crops on market-style farms, lead innovative healthy eating educational sessions, maintain vibrant community and school gardens, and enhance food literacy within local schools. They also support local farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, helping to establish crucial distribution channels for accessible healthy food. Our Fellowship includes a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm, culminating in a Community Action Year where graduates apply their knowledge and skills alongside regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March for the program that runs from May to October each year, ensuring a meaningful impact in the community.
