The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program in La Plata, MD, is dedicated to improving the health and nutrition of pregnant women, new mothers, and their young children. Funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, WIC offers vital food assistance, nutritional education, and support to eligible families in need. Participants receive a variety of healthy foods including cheese, eggs, milk, juice, and fresh fruits and vegetables, along with crucial breastfeeding support and referrals to other essential health services like immunizations and dental care. Our focus is on fostering healthy pregnancy outcomes and promoting lifelong healthy eating habits. WIC is accessible to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, as well as parents or guardians caring for children under five years who are facing nutritional risks. To apply, individuals should bring proof of income, identification, residency, and in certain cases, medical documentation to their appointment.
