The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Salisbury, MD, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Our program empowers Fellows through hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they gain valuable expertise in organic food systems. We prioritize accessibility by offering this Fellowship without tuition fees. Over the course of six months, selected Fellows engage in experiential learning, working alongside community partners to cultivate diverse crops, lead educational initiatives in healthcare, maintain gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. They also support local farmers' markets, develop distribution channels for improved access to healthy foods, and participate in community food coalitions. After their immersive training, Fellows implement their knowledge during a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to drive meaningful change in their communities. Applications close in March, with the Fellowship running from May to October, providing a transformative opportunity to influence the future of food in our region.
