Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a transformative six-month experiential program at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows delve into organic food systems, ecological literacy, and community engagement. With no tuition fees, this initiative strives for accessibility, allowing individuals to learn and implement innovative solutions in local communities. Fellows work collaboratively on market-style farms, community gardens, and health-oriented educational projects while developing skills to support farmers markets and increase access to nutritious food. Following their training, participants take part in a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge with regional non-profits to foster social, environmental, and economic justice in the food system. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
