Based in Carthage, MS, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of leaders who champion a fair and sustainable food system. This program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides a tuition-free, immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where selected Fellows receive hands-on training in organic farming and innovative agricultural practices. Throughout their fellowship, participants engage in activities that promote food justice, including growing diversified crops, leading educational initiatives on health and nutrition, maintaining community gardens, and supporting local farmers markets. After their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge in collaboration with regional non-profits to enhance access to healthy food in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October, ensuring that those eager to make a difference can participate in this vital work.
