About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Columbia, MS, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for just and sustainable food systems. Through a six-month residential program at the AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, our Fellows receive hands-on training in organic food system education, enabling them to become effective teachers and leaders in their communities. We believe in promoting accessibility to knowledge, which is why we do not charge tuition for our Fellowship. Participants will engage in diverse activities such as growing and distributing crops on a market-style farm, implementing educational health initiatives, and maintaining community gardens while infusing food and ecological literacy into school programs. Our commitment to food assistance extends to supporting farmers markets and creating distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods. After completing their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to apply their skills and drive meaningful change before the application deadline in March each year.
