About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Crystal Springs, MS, cultivates passionate leaders dedicated to promoting an equitable food system through hands-on education and advocacy. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program offers aspiring fellows a unique opportunity to engage in organic food system education, enabling them to advocate for food justice and sustainability. During the six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, fellows gain practical training in growing and distributing diverse crops, managing community gardens, and implementing innovative educational sessions in health care. They also learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into educational activities and support local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. Following this enriching fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with non-profit organizations to apply their skills in real-world settings. We believe in making this opportunity accessible by offering a tuition-free program, empowering a diverse range of fellows to become effective advocates for a socially and environmentally just food system.
