The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Florence, MS is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of food advocates and educators committed to a just food system that balances social, environmental, and economic ideals. Through a comprehensive, hands-on training program at AMI’s Allegheny Farm in Highland County, Virginia, selected Fellows receive invaluable education in organic food systems without the burden of tuition fees, ensuring accessibility. This transformative experience spans six months of immersive learning on a market-style farm, where participants grow and distribute diverse crops, support community gardens, and implement innovative health initiatives. Through the Community Action Year, Fellows engage with local non-profit organizations to put their training into practice, fostering food and ecological literacy, supporting farmers markets, and enhancing access to healthy foods in their communities. Applications are welcomed annually until March, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October.
