About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hattiesburg, MS is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of leaders in the movement for a just and sustainable food system. Our program empowers selected Fellows with comprehensive education in organic agriculture and food systems, providing hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm in Virginia. Throughout this fellowship, we prioritize accessibility by offering tuition-free education, ensuring that anyone passionate about promoting social, environmental, and economic justice can join the cause. During this immersive six-month journey, Fellows engage in diverse activities such as growing and distributing crops, implementing community health initiatives, maintaining school gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy in educational settings. Through partnerships with local non-profits, our Fellows make a meaningful impact during their Community Action Year, supporting farmers markets and increasing access to healthy food. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences running from May to October, inviting individuals ready to be advocates for food justice to take part in this transformative fellowship.
