About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Based in Hernando, MS, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Through this transformative program, participants receive comprehensive education in organic farming practices and can engage in hands-on learning at our Allegheny Farm Campus in Virginia. Our Fellows work alongside community partners to cultivate and distribute diverse crops, create innovative healthcare education, maintain school and community gardens, and promote food literacy in local schools. Additionally, they support farmers markets and develop strategies for improving access to healthy foods. With no tuition fees, we strive to make this invaluable experience accessible to all. The Fellowship spans six months of immersive training, followed by a Community Action Year, allowing Fellows to apply their knowledge with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are due by March each year, with the program running from May to October.
