About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Horn Lake, MS, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. Offering a unique, tuition-free program, the Fellowship empowers participants through hands-on education in organic farming practices and food system advocacy. Fellows engage in meaningful projects, such as growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing health-focused educational sessions, and creating community and school gardens. Participants also learn to enhance food literacy in educational settings, support local farmers' markets, and develop strategies to improve access to healthy foods. Over the course of six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, Fellows collaborate with regional non-profits, fostering a culture of teamwork and mentorship. Applications are welcomed through March for the following year, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October, ensuring that passionate individuals have the opportunity to transform their communities through hands-on food education and advocacy.
