About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lumberton, MS, is dedicated to cultivating a just food system through hands-on training and empowerment of our Fellows. Our program provides comprehensive organic food system education, ensuring accessibility by charging no tuition fees. Throughout the Fellowship, participants engage in diverse activities such as growing and distributing crops on a market-style farm, conducting innovative health education sessions, maintaining community and school gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy. Additionally, our Fellows support local farmers' markets and develop distribution channels that improve access to healthy foods while actively participating in community food coalition initiatives. After an immersive six-month residency at our Allegheny Farm Campus, they spend a Community Action Year applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits, thus fostering meaningful change in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the experiential learning phase running from May to October.
