The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Mendenhall, MS, is dedicated to cultivating leaders who advocate for a food system that is just and equitable. This transformative program provides organic food system education to empower selected Fellows without charging tuition, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Throughout the six-month experiential training at the AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, working collaboratively to grow and distribute diversified crops while implementing educational initiatives focused on health and ecological literacy. By engaging with community partners, Fellows also support school and community gardens, farmers markets, and direct-to-consumer programs, fostering greater access to healthy foods. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills alongside regional non-profits to drive meaningful change within their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the immersive experience taking place from May to October.
