About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ocean Springs, MS, provides a transformative opportunity for individuals passionate about creating a just food system. This program sponsors and trains Fellows to become influential teachers and advocates dedicated to social, environmental, and economic justice within food systems. By promoting organic food system education, the Fellowship empowers participants to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement health education sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy among students. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets and build distribution channels that enhance access to healthy food. Selected individuals engage in a six-month experiential learning journey at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a dedicated Community Action Year where they collaborate with local non-profits to put their training into practice. The Fellowship is tuition-free, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring community leaders committed to advancing sustainable food practices and education.
