About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Pascagoula, MS, is dedicated to cultivating advocates for a just and sustainable food system. This immersive program sponsors and equips Fellows with the knowledge and skills to promote socially, environmentally, and economically equitable practices in food systems. By offering comprehensive organic food system education at AMI’s Allegheny Farm, the Fellowship fosters hands-on learning and real-world application. Participants engage in diverse activities, including growing and distributing crops, leading educational sessions in innovative health care, and managing community gardens. The program encourages collaboration with local partners to enhance food access, support farmers markets, and instill food and ecological literacy in schools. Selected Fellows undertake a transformative six-month residential experience, followed by a Community Action Year, where they implement their training with regional non-profits. The fellowship is tuition-free, ensuring accessibility for all passionate individuals ready to make an impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
