About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Philadelphia, MS is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators for a just and sustainable food system. Through immersive, hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, our Fellows engage in organic food system education that emphasizes social, environmental, and economic justice. We believe in accessibility, which is why we do not charge tuition for our program. Over the course of six months, selected Fellows will gain invaluable experience in diversified crop production, community gardening, and food literacy integration within local education. They also learn to support farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives while mentoring future cohorts. After their fellowship, participants dedicate a Community Action Year to applying their skills with regional non-profit organizations, making a tangible impact on community food systems. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
