The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Picayune, MS, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals as advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through our comprehensive program, we offer aspiring leaders experiential learning opportunities at Allegheny Farm, where they gain practical organic food system education without the burden of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all. Participants engage in meaningful community projects, including growing and distributing diverse crops, maintaining community gardens, and implementing innovative health education programs. Our Fellows also focus on enhancing food and ecological literacy in local schools, supporting farmers markets, and developing access channels for healthy foods. With a combination of six months of immersive study and a subsequent Community Action Year, our selected Fellows collaborate with regional non-profits to apply their skills and drive impactful change in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, with program activities typically running from May to October.
