The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Purvis, MS, cultivates a new generation of leaders dedicated to fostering a fair and sustainable food system. Through a comprehensive program that combines organic food system education and hands-on experience, our Fellows engage deeply with community partners to champion social and environmental justice in agriculture. This initiative empowers participants to grow diverse crops on market-style farms, implement innovative health care education sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and enhance food and ecological literacy in educational settings. The program also supports farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, facilitating increased access to healthy foods. Selected Fellows embark on a transformative six-month residential experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they actively apply their learning in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. We strive to create accessible pathways into this Fellowship by not charging tuition, ensuring that the opportunity to make a positive impact is open to all. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by March of the application year, with the fellowship experience typically running from May to October.
