About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Starkville, MS, is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system by training and empowering future leaders in the field. Through a unique, hands-on program, the Fellowship supports individuals eager to become advocates for social, environmental, and economic equity in food systems. Selected Fellows engage in a transformative six-month experiential learning experience at AMI’s Allegheny Farm, where they receive comprehensive education in organic farming practices and community engagement. Following this immersive training, they participate in a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to implement innovative health care sessions, manage school and community gardens, and promote food literacy in educational settings. This program not only enhances access to healthy food but also strengthens community food initiatives, all while ensuring that tuition is not a barrier to participation. Applications are accepted until March, with the program running from May to October.
