The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Summit, MS, is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system through education and empowerment. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program trains Fellows to become advocates for food justice, focusing on the social, environmental, and economic impacts of our food choices. With no tuition fees, we ensure accessibility for diverse participants. Throughout the six-month immersive experience at AMI's Allegheny Farm, Fellows will engage in organic food system education that includes growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing innovative health care education, and maintaining community gardens. They will also learn how to integrate food and ecological literacy into educational activities, support farmers markets, and develop channels to enhance access to healthy food options. Following their fellowship, participants will embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their training and make a tangible difference. Applications are due by March each year, with the fellowship typically running from May to October.
