About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Terry, MS, is dedicated to cultivating passionate leaders who advocate for a fair and sustainable food system. This program empowers selected Fellows through hands-on training and education in organic farming practices, preparing them to champion socially, environmentally, and economically just food systems. With no tuition fees, the Fellowship emphasizes accessibility and includes opportunities for participants to engage in growing and distributing diverse crops, leading educational sessions focused on health care, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. Fellows also support local farmers markets and contribute to community food coalition initiatives. This immersive experience spans six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, during which they apply their skills alongside regional non-profit organizations to expand access to healthy food. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program typically running from May to October.
